Running Team Names for Relays, Run Clubs, Trails, and Races

A running team name should still sound good at mile ten, when the jokes are worse, the snacks are more important, and nobody wants to explain a complicated pun.

These ideas are built for relay teams, run clubs, charity races, training groups, trail crews, and friends who signed up together before fully considering the distance.

My favorite running team names

  • Second Wind — simple, encouraging, and great for almost any distance.
  • One More Mile — obvious in the right way.
  • Negative Split Society — perfect for runners who actually watch the clock.
  • Meet at the Finish — warm, practical, and group-friendly.
  • Weekend Miles — ideal for a regular run club.
  • The Long Run — classic and versatile.
  • Pace Pending — funny without sounding forced.
  • Route Recalculating — one of my favorites for a casual group.
  • Early Start Club — painfully accurate for weekend races.
  • Run Now, Brunch Later — because priorities matter.

How to choose a running team name

Use the event, route, distance, or group habit if you want the name to feel personal. A regular Saturday loop or notorious hill gives you much better material than a generic speed word.

For charity events, keep the cause more important than the joke. For more ideas, browse sports team names, motivational group names, and funny team names.

What I would choose

Second Wind is the strongest all-purpose pick, while Negative Split Society is my favorite for a more serious running group. For a relaxed friend crew, Run Now, Brunch Later is hard to improve on.
